The holidays are around the corner.
Everyone is talking about spending time with friends and family, exchanging gifts, eating big meals etc...
But, that's where it ends.
I know this is not true for everyone but it seems like the majority of Americans aren't as close to their families like in other cultures. How many times have you thought you hated your family or wish they would just leave you alone? Don't deny it. It's at least happened once in your life. Family time is not what it used to be. I was so surprised to learn that more than a few of my fellow high school classmates don't even eat dinner together with their families. I had always assumed that dinner was a family thing like it was in my family.
As we get older, families drift apart even more. My Mom tells me all the time that she doesn't want us to end up in a nursing home like how an American family would send their parents into one and that children should care for their parents even after they grow up. But that's not the point. Most of the time we're too busy with our phones and other electronics to take put them down and spend some quality family time. You could argue that it's hard to find the time, but hey, family comes first right? You'll look back one day and be thankful of the time you spent together.
So, in the comments below I want you to tell me what you think about this topic. Do you agree? Are we too busy with our electronics to spend time with family? Or maybe you have completely different thoughts. Maybe that's life. Share your ideas, comments, opinions, rants etc below. (That's the whole point of this page).
Happy Holidays!
